Some rooms you walk into and feel the energy straight away. WKS Industrial Annual Dinner was one of them.
This was my second time hosting for WKS Industrial Gas, and sadly had to miss the year in between due to a scheduling clash — so being invited back meant a lot. About 140 staff filled the ballroom, ready for a good night!
One room, many languages
Here's what made this crowd special: it was wonderfully mixed. Office staff from Singapore, colleagues from China, and team members from India, and more! All together for their once-a-year gathering. The energy felt higher than before, so I leaned right into it and led a good chunk of the night in Mandarin, switching between languages so nobody felt left out. When the whole room laughs at the same moment, in whichever language, that's the win!
Celebrating the people
We went straight into the heart of the evening: the awards. WKS Managing Director Mr KH Wong presented the long-service awards and the incentive awards, recognising the people who keep the company moving.
Games the committee got spot-on
This is where the WKS committee deserves real credit. They chose the games and designed some of the themselves, and they clearly know their people. Every pick fit the room.
We ran a mix of:
The finale catwalk game got gloriously competitive, and a couple of tables went all-in. My job? Keep the energy up, read the room, and make sure the enthusiasm never dipped.
Lucky draws, big cheers
No annual dinner is complete without lucky draws. We ran many rounds plus a bonus draw. Plenty of cheering, a few groans, and one very happy top-prize winner!
A grateful close
We wrapped with a mass photo and three big cheers. A fun, full-hearted night with an appreciative crowd — exactly the kind of room I love hosting. Thank you to Doreen and the WKS committee for having me back.
If you're planning a dinner and dance and want a emcee who keeps the energy up and the night flowing, take a look at my videos, read a few testimonials, or get in touch — please let me know :)
